Here are some pictures from Villa Escudero, a couple hours south of Manila. We went there as part of our trip to the Philippines in January 2005. Click on a picture to receive a larger, higher quality version. Enjoy -- Jim

Villa Escudero is a working coconut plantation and resort. We drove down there from Manila one day.

Claire and I.
On the lawn they have some WWII memorabilia.
They have a really nice museum there, but unfortunately pictures aren't allowed to be taken inside.
A private residence.
Part of our visit there was a caribaou-drawn cart ride, complete with a serenade of traditional music. A carabao is the Philippine version of a buffalo.
This caribao was called "Pogi" which means "handsome". I though that made an interesting name given the angle we has on the caribao as shown in this picture.
The locals signing and playing guitar.

They have a buffet available there beside a large waterfall. The interesting thing is that you are actually eating in the river (e.g. your feet get wet).
