The Bahamas: Atlantis resort (outside)

Here are some pictures from the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino in the Bahamas, specifically of the outside (inside is on the next page). The Atlantis is a megaresort a bridge away from Nassau. This is from our Honeymoon in the Bahamas November 2001. Click on a picture to receive a larger, higher quality version. Enjoy -- Jim

Here are some pictures of the outside of the Atlantis Resort.
These pictures are of from the balcony of our hotel room.

A panoramic view from our room; a composite picture created by PhotoStitch. 1800x425 and 4244x1012 versions are available.

This scene is also available as a Quicktime VR movie (16.6 MB); enjoy zooming in and around and rotating it. You may need a Quicktime viewer from Apple to see this.

One of the resort's pools.
The lagoon and water slides (the Mayan temple).
Ground level pictures of the outside.
They had lots of stingrays there.
Looks like a shark.
More stingrays.
They have some water slides based on a Mayan temple shape.
This side has a quick drop that leads to a clear tube that goes through a shark and fish tank and into a pool. Quite a rush.
Side views of the tubes. You can see a pair of sharks here in the background.
Also interesting is the refection that I caught here in the upper right and generally the play of the reflection.
You can see someone going through the tube in this one.
The other side of the temple has an even higher and faster drop. They even time your drop and show it on a display at the bottom.
A large swimming pool. (Everything at this resort is large and much could be considered over-the-top, but I think it is to good effect.)
The lagoon. It was relatively uncrowded when we visited there due to its proximity of 9/11 (2.5 months later).
A view of part of the hotel from across the lagoon.
The opposite side of the same part of the hotel from Nassau, along with a cruise ship.
