Welcome to the Cafe Bridge web site. Note: This event took place years ago and is still here for historical purposes only.
What is Cafe Bridge?
Cafe Bridge is a duplicate bridge tournament organized by Lisa Kow taking place in Davis, CA on Saturday October 23, 1999. It is open to the public, so feel free to join us. You can come with or without a partner or team. If you don't have a partner or team you will be paired randomly. The tournament is an open tournament, so all abilities are welcome.
This tournament will be taking place at several cafes in the area of E street in Downtown Davis. Players will change cafes between rounds.
There are 3, 30 minute rounds with 15 minutes allowed for transition to the next location and 30 minutes for lunch. The final is 2 rounds. Each round is 3 boards, so you will have 10 minutes for each hand. Scores get turned in at Borders.
I first experienced cafe bridge at a festival in Holland. It was a fun way for both new and experienced players to socialize and play the game of bridge. We played two boards at each cafe and then switched cafes and opponents. At each cafe we were served drinks and during the lunch break we were served lunch. Gift certificates were given to the winners (donated by the cafes).
These are the locations lined up so far:
- Cafe Panini (132 E street)
- Capital Crimes & Coffee (132 E street); happy hour special for players: $1.50 espresso
- Cafe Roma (231 E street)
- Fuzio (500 1st street #11)
- Borders (500 1st street)
Date and time
Saturday, October 23, 1999 from 11 AM till 2 PM. Please arrive at Borders Cafe 15 minutes prior to game time to receive table assignments.

To register for the Tournament, visit the registration page. Random assignments for partnerships and teams is available. Advance reservations are required since space is limited in each cafe and the movement will be set up ahead of time. Participants will not be accepted after October 20th.

Lisa's recommendations for under $10:
- Fuzio: Penne Greco, Organic Salad, fresh lemonade
