Cafe Bridge

Welcome to the Cafe Bridge web site. Note: This event took place years ago and is still here for historical purposes only.

What is Cafe Bridge?

Cafe Bridge is a duplicate bridge tournament organized by Lisa Kow taking place in Davis, CA on Saturday October 23, 1999. It is open to the public, so feel free to join us. You can come with or without a partner or team. If you don't have a partner or team you will be paired randomly. The tournament is an open tournament, so all abilities are welcome.

Tournament Format

This tournament will be taking place at several cafes in the area of E street in Downtown Davis. Players will change cafes between rounds.

There are 3, 30 minute rounds with 15 minutes allowed for transition to the next location and 30 minutes for lunch. The final is 2 rounds. Each round is 3 boards, so you will have 10 minutes for each hand. Scores get turned in at Borders.

I first experienced cafe bridge at a festival in Holland. It was a fun way for both new and experienced players to socialize and play the game of bridge. We played two boards at each cafe and then switched cafes and opponents. At each cafe we were served drinks and during the lunch break we were served lunch. Gift certificates were given to the winners (donated by the cafes).
